Spring 1 (2025/26)- Europe

Exploring Europe – A Term Full of Discovery!

Baybridge Class has had a truly fabulous term exploring Europe and all the amazing geography, culture, and landmarks it has to offer!

Throughout the term, the children have developed their knowledge of:

  • The continents of the world and where Europe is located

  • Countries within Europe

  • Capital cities

  • Surrounding seas and oceans

  • Famous mountain ranges and physical features

The children have impressed us with their growing confidence in identifying countries on a map and recalling key geographical facts.

A Special Focus on Italy

Our main talking point this term has been the beautiful country of Italy.

We explored Italy’s rich culture, famous landmarks, food, and traditions. In English, the children wrote imaginative postcards as if they were visiting Italy on holiday. They described the sights, sounds, food, and atmosphere, using exciting vocabulary and detailed descriptions to make their writing come alive. It was wonderful to read about their “visits” to bustling cities, sunny coastlines, and historic landmarks!

An Unforgettable Hook Day – European Dress-Up & Pizza Parlour!

Our topic began with a fantastic Hook Day that the children (and adults!) will not forget in a hurry.

The children came to school dressed in clothing inspired by different European countries, proudly sharing facts about the places they represented. It was a brilliant way to celebrate Europe’s diversity and culture.

The highlight of the day was transforming our classroom into our very own Baybridge Pizza Parlour!

The children were involved in every step of the process:

  • Designing and making their own pizza boxes

  • Creating menus and listing ingredients

  • Preparing and cutting toppings

  • Learning about food preparation and hygiene

  • Working together as a team

We were thrilled to welcome parents into the classroom to help the children prepare their pizzas. The excitement was contagious as the children carefully added their chosen toppings, baked their creations, and proudly took their pizzas home to enjoy.

It was a hands-on, creative, and delicious way to bring our learning about Italy to life!

A Term to Remember

This topic has combined geography, creativity, writing, and practical skills in a fun and meaningful way. The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity throughout.

We are incredibly proud of everything Baybridge Class has achieved this term — what an exciting journey across Europe it has been!
