Summer 1 - Magic of Music
Music Hook Afternoon
The children had a fantastic time during our hook afternoon, exploring the history of music and discovering how it sounds in different countries around the world. They also enjoyed creating their own “summer sound boards.”
For this activity, the children thought about what they might be doing over the summer—such as going to the beach, having a picnic, or enjoying a BBQ—and then considered the different sounds they might hear in those settings, like birds chirping, water splashing, or a fire crackling.
Although it was a short session, the children were fully engaged and had a wonderful time learning and being creative.
The Greggs School Enrichment Morning
Our lovely year 5 students were given an early taster for secondary school when they were invited to The Gregg School in Southampton for a morning of History and Geography.
Aside from the excitement of a minibus trip, our inquisitive cohort were warmly welcomed by staff and students and taken through the beautiful school to their first lesson of the morning – History.
The children were transported to the world of pirates and dressed up to truly immerse themselves in the learning theme.
They thoroughly enjoyed working with the older students and produced some super writing about a pirate’s life on the high seas.
After a break of flapjack and melon, the children moved on to a Geography lesson and tried their hand at orienteering. This gave them the opportunity to explore the stunning school grounds and demonstrate their problem-solving skills.
The morning flew by and they came back to Owslebury eager to tell whoever would listen about their experience.
