North America Hook Day
Today, the children enjoyed an engaging and enriching Hook Day focused on the continent of North America. The morning began with an exploration of the 50 states of the USA, followed by a creative activity where the children designed their own flags to represent Owslebury.
After break, the focus shifted to tourism. The children discussed the reasons people travel and how both human geographical features (such as museums and art galleries) and physical geographical features (such as mountains, beaches, and forests) can influence tourism. Building on this, they conducted research into popular holiday destinations, examining their locations and what makes them unique and appealing to visitors.
In the afternoon, the children explored the history of the original inhabitants of America, delving into Native American culture and art. To conclude the day, they had the opportunity to create their own Native American-inspired sand art, bringing together history and creativity in a fun and meaningful way.

A Phenomenal Performance by Hensting Class – Alice the Musical
I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible performance Hensting Class delivered in their production of Alice the Musical. The children absolutely shone on stage, bringing the story to life with such joy, enthusiasm, and confidence. They truly wowed their audience of parents, friends, and staff.
It was clear to see the enormous amount of time, effort, and care they put into learning their lines, mastering the songs, and rehearsing every detail. Their teamwork, commitment, and creativity were simply outstanding.
As their class teacher, I was beaming with pride, and I know the headteacher and the entire school community felt exactly the same. Year 5 and Year 6—you did an amazing job, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Bravo!
