My Beating Heart Hook Day

The children had a fantastic time during their Hook Day, which kick-started the term with an exciting deep dive into the circulatory system.

They explored what happens to our hearts during different forms of exercise, investigated the various blood types and who can donate to whom, and examined the three main types of blood vessels. Pupils also took a closer look at blood itself—discovering its four key components and understanding the vital roles each one plays in keeping us healthy.

The standout moment of the day was a real treat: Mrs Kidd kindly joined us to perform a real pig heart dissection, giving the children a hands-on, unforgettable learning experience. She also led an important session on CPR and the role of electric shock treatment in saving lives.

What a brilliant way to begin the term—well done to all the children for their enthusiasm and brilliant engagement!

SATs Are Over – Time to Celebrate!

After a week of hard work and determination, Hensting Class marked the end of SATs with a well-deserved day of fun and relaxation. The morning began with some peaceful mindfulness colouring to spark creativity and unwind. Later, the classroom transformed into a mini cinema, complete with a film and delicious popcorn – just like the real thing!

To round off the day, the sun was shining, the ice creams were flowing, and the children enjoyed some well-earned time playing outdoors.

Well done, Year 6 – you've shown incredible effort and resilience this week. We are all so proud of you!
